Lockes dreams of national title shattered by forceful Meelin

The dream of a first ever national title for John Lockes was shattered by an excellent Meelin (Cork) side on Sunday last in Croke Park. The scoreline of 0-12 to 1-5 gives credence to the fact that defences were on top and scores were hard to come by.

It was mixed fortunes for Kilkenny hurling last weekend. The county side got off to the best possible start in the league when they proved too strong for All-Ireland champions Tipperary. While on Sunday both John Lockes of Callan and Dicksboro saw their All-Ireland aspirations go up in smoke against their Cork counterparts.

Lights, camera and hopefully action this time around

It has been a long hard winter in Kilkenny and I'm not just talking about the weather. The disappointment of not achieving the illusive five-in-a-row has been well and truly trashed out since last September.

2010 was the end of the five- in-a-row dream but what a run we have had

The year 2010 will be remembered for a lot of different reasons. From a national perspective the sight of the IMF coming in to bail out our financial affairs will live long in the memory. The severe weather conditions at certain times will also rank high on the list but on the sporting front from Kilkenny's perspective it will be remembered as the year Tipp spoiled our dream of the illusive five-in-a-row. This current panel did not need to reach this milestone for greatness, that was already achieved over the last decade, but it sure would have been nice for themselves if they had pulled it off.
